Risk disclosure
Last updated 12 October 2026
Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. Leveraged products such as CFDs, futures, options and perpetuals can lose more than your deposit in some cases and can move fast. Only trade money you can afford to lose.
No advice, no signals, no managed accounts
qkt is software for researching and running trading strategies. We do not provide investment advice, signals, portfolio management or execution services, and we do not hold your money or act as your broker. Strategies shown on this site are examples of the language, not recommendations. Nobody here has assessed whether trading suits you.
Results on this site are hypothetical
Every performance figure here comes from a backtest or a replay of a backtest. Hypothetical results have many limits. They are built with hindsight, they do not reflect real trading decisions made under real conditions, and they can differ sharply from what an account would have achieved.
Where we show a profitable period, we picked it after the results were known, and we say so next to it. For the August 2026 example, only 6 of the last 12 months made money and together the 12 months lost 1,178.30 USD. A good month in a backtest does not predict a good month live.
What a backtest leaves out
By default qkt fills at the middle price with no spread or slippage, and says so in its own output. Real brokers and venues add spreads, commission, slippage, latency, partial fills, rejected orders, swaps and outages. Models such as --broker mt5-sim approximate some of these, but they are still models. The parity register in the qkt repository lists where live trading can differ from a backtest.
Automated trading can fail
Software and connections fail. Orders can be duplicated, missed or rejected, data can be late or wrong, and a safeguard that fails may fail silently. Start on paper or a demo account. qkt is pre-1.0 and its own documentation recommends paper and demo accounts. Run a strategy there, watch how it behaves, and understand every order it places before you consider risking money. If you choose to go further, that is your decision and your risk.
Safeguards reduce risk but do not remove it
Risk limits, kill switches and identity checks are tools that can fail or be configured wrongly. Guardrails polls about every 30 seconds by default and depends on the gateway, the terminal and the broker connection all working. It closes positions with market orders that can fill far from the trigger price, especially in fast markets or gaps. If it, its host, the gateway or your connection is down, nothing is watching. Limits do not guarantee that a prop firm's rules will not be breached. Firms change their rules, so check yours.
Third parties
qkt connects to brokers, venues and data providers that are not run by us. Their availability, prices, fills and terms are outside our control. We do not control or vouch for any broker's, exchange's or prop firm's service, rules or willingness to allow automated trading, and using automation or software like this may breach their terms. We are not affiliated with any broker, venue or proprietary trading firm named on this site.
The software is provided as it is
qkt and its companion tools are open source and are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, as set out in their licences (Apache-2.0, and MIT for the MT5 gateway). To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses, missed trades, bugs, outages, wrong data or mistaken settings arising from using them or this site. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law. You are responsible for testing the software and for the strategies you write.
